When he sits he looks like the cat form of Anubis.. So his name Glyph is just short for hieroglyph.. An glyph sounded way cooler :)

Thank you Lisa, the mystery of Glyph or at least for me, is solved! That was a quick turnaround. Sorta like Kitler Glyph GOOGLE! Say that 3 times real fast.  
He's elegant, I'm not going to even ask his last name. :-)
