Groucho passed away yesterday. I had to euthanize him since his kidneys had failed and he had an irregular heartbeat. I'm going to miss you, Groucho.

Groucho's brother Stimpy sat meowing at the apartment door for what seemed like hours. Groucho, who I thought was napping, jumps off the sofa, strolls over to Stimpy, sniffs him, then whacks him upside the head. Stimpy takes off to another room, Groucho resumes his position on the sofa, looks at me and meows as if to say "What?", to which I respond, "Good boy, Groucho."  

And he even gave the salute!

@ everyone - thanks for the kind words. He was such a clever cat and my best friend. I raised him and his brother Stimpy from kittens of six weeks until they took their last breath. I still miss my good buddies.
